sacrifice... risk... expectation... remember

Last night I was at a missions young adult meeting called "Cafe Wycliffe", I love going! We had a young lady from Ontario share, she did an amazing job connecting and making it real!
The whole night was about challenging people to think outside the box... to consider doing something different. Through personal stories, interviews and looking at the story of David in the bible she walked us through the 4 points above.
What is Sacrifice? - what do you (need to) sacrifice?
What will you risk?
What do you expect?
How has God been faithful? - remember!

Now I am already in Missions I know but God speaks and meets us where we are if we are open!
I was most challenged by the risk one... on my "risk paper" I put: being lonely.
Along with that went my sacrifice of: Not being here to be there.

They are very much connected and something I am learning about on a whole new level. In Australia I was lonely because I wasn't with family and friends from home... but I understood the language and the culture was not to different.
In Russia, however, the language, culture and people are different. It takes more time to make friends, more time to get really involved just because of what needs to be learned first.

Back to Cafe Wycliffe... it was the general conclusion that whatever was sacrificed etc..etc..etc would be well worth while for you give up one thing for something greater!!
I can and will testify to that... I am so excited about what I have learned and all that there is still to learn....
