We went to a women's Rehab Center. There were 3 of us, Sarah, Olya and I. The center is an hour's drive away really close to a smaller city right on sea. They love to have people come but it is a long drive so not many people get out there.
It is a small house with a locked gate out front. They keep it locked so people can not just come in as it is an all women's center. You walk right into a small dining room, the shower and bath are attached. There is a small kitchen and a bedroom also on the main floor. They do a lot of their meal preparation outside. Up a narrow staircase is a room just hanging out, there is a stereo and TV. Another bedroom joins it and there is a tiny little room just for the leader of the center.
10 ladies live there ranging from 25 to 55. Some have been there a year others only 2 days. They are free to leave at anytime but if they are committed to staying then they are not allowed off the property at all for atleast the first month. After that they are allowed to go to church and other organized functions like that. They can stay up to a year or longer depending on the individual. They are a lively bunch. They are hungry for relationship. It is hard work though.
We just went to bless them and encourage them. Sarah lead worship and I shared some of my testimony with them. We did an armour of God type theme, I dressed up one of the ladies with "armour" I had brought. God really moved and they were encouraged, some ladies went off to talk more with Sarah and Olya. The rest of the ladies worked hard at helping me understand stories of their lives and about their families.
They shared their supper with us, translated we ate sailor's macaroni, it was really good. Reminded me of a hamburger helper type dish. We finished the meal with some wonderful grapes! I was introduced to the house pets, 2 cats, one a tiny little kitty, 2 dogs and a rat. The rat was fun, he was very friendly.
Please remember these ladies as they committ to getting getting off drugs and away from Alcohol. Please pray for their families, that they would be supportive of their daughters, mothers and wives. Please pray for healing and good health as a lot of the ladies have HIV and other STD's.
