Let me introduce...

Here is a little profile on one of the staff members here and her ministry... Enjoy!

Vera

22 years old. She has been on staff here in Rostov on Don since 2006. She is newly married - May 10th, 2008. She lives on base with her husband. They have rabbits and they use to chickens. I personally am hoping the chickens will come back as they have been moved to another city!

Here is what Vera had to say about being married, " God was right when he said it is not good for man to be alone!"

Her favourite scripture is Isaiah 12 because she feels like it describes her life.

On base Vera is in charge of hospitality. She is also starting a ministry to the elderly, especially to Babushka's (grandma's)

Why the elderly?

Well Vera was on her DTS God reminded her of her own Grandma. When she was a little girl she had not been very kind to her grandma. God led Vera into repentance for that and then spoke to her about seeing that redeemed by reaching out to other Babushka’s.

God gave Vera opportunities in this area right after she joined staff. She was able to visit one Babushka 3 times a week for a number of months. She helped with cleaning, groceries and other errands. She had the privilege of seeing her come to know the Lord shortly before she died.

Only now though, a number of years later is she really pursuing building this ministry.

Right now Vera and her team of volunteers go out twice a week. They give out scriptures verses, pray for them and play worship songs for those they meet. Most importantly though they are there to listen as they work on building relationship.

She dreams about giving parties for them. To honour them and the lives they have lived. She dreams about seeing a choir of Babushka's - singing traditional Russian songs as well as worship songs.

This is only the beginning!
